How hard it is to be bored.
“Being bored is simply synonymous with having to extract oneself from the communication matrix obeying the stimulus-response pattern, the cocktail of SMS, YouTube and fast food; to be denied, for a moment, the constant flow of sugary satisfaction on demand.” Capitalist Realism, Mark Fisher, Entremondes Editions, 2009.
The diversity of features found in Antoine's work seems to result from a constant exploration of the images and signs that surround us. Through drawing, boredom makes sense.
In a world saturated by images, Antoine uses his visual memory to create an archival space in which fragments can branch out and become other. It is a place of decantation. We find graphic elements echoing the iconographies that surround us, those of the infra-ordinary. The lines make their way, leaving imprints with an air of déjà vu. They bear witness to the enclosed universes that capital produces. Here, the enclosure is pierced, and drawing resembles walking.
