Floriane is inspired by the connections she forges with the living. Her work strives to repair the earth, thanks to plants and their transformations. Through her practice, she slows down to coexist with the cycle of the seasons. This translates into a cycle in her visual work that blends performance and performed storytelling. She uses this form to share her research and the ancient skills she uses, such as dyeing, spinning, anthotyping, papermaking, and more, which allow her to rediscover gentler rhythms of production and existence.
Through performed narratives, she crosses identities, to place herself between artist and scientist, between dyer and spinner, between craftswoman and gardener. The plastic ecosystem she deploys allows her to transmit her research to viewers, while materializing in performances, to bring poetry and arouse interest. Floriane imagines this hybrid form to question the way we create pieces in the Anthropocene. She follows in the footsteps of thinkers like Charlotte Cosson, who advocates "an art that would have the power to trigger in everyone a love for the living." Textiles take shape in her work as a sensitive costume, charged by the living beings that compose it. Each creative moment allows the discovery of situated ecosystems, which the pieces integrate. This tactile connection between our molecules and plants makes us more sensitive to them, and therefore more resilient. In the urgency of a dying world, Floriane sees creation as a way of being in the world, which for her means imagining new forms of practice, to collectively bring new roots.
