Grégoire Pérotin

Holder of a DNSEP art option with congratulations from the jury, obtained in 2024 at Ensad Limoges

Grégoire devours images. His productions provoke doubts about the dimensions and provenance of the images used. Sometimes suffering from visual hyperphagia, his connection with images oscillates between toxic addiction and a need for awareness. Born at the end of the first millennium, Grégoire was lulled by images disseminated by new media, which constitute the cornerstone of an industry of fantasy and suggestion. The interventions applied to images serve to blur the hegemony generally attributed to them.
Situated in a certain line of open appropriation by the artists of the Pictures Generation, Grégoire is driven by societal issues associated with “directed” images.
Discovering the term hyperobject while reading James Bridle, he began to describe images as such. The hyperobject made up of images goes beyond local, temporal, and dimensional assignment. A phenomenon he translates in his works through the application of a pictoriality that is done differently through each medium practiced. Grégoire has always maintained a certain fascination for textures, which explains his simple use of materials produced by casting with a "dirty" finish. Hot glue, resin that infuses into the paper, the poor quality of the prints, all contribute to a form of protest in his work. The serial work of collages operates a repeated critique of the unconscious absorption of ideologies and lifestyles imposed by the media.
