At a particular moment in her life, Gwladys decided to join an art school where the question of her origins arose in her artistic approach. She understood through her reflections and essays that this led her to the transmission of a memory through orality. It is also a way of sharing "La Kiltur Kréol". Gwladys speaks of human relationships, of fragmented truth using performance: tying bodies by their hair. The issues related to slavery and colonization are addressed through the epic and migratory journeys of her family. A fertile ground allowing us to glimpse "history in equal parts": the point of view of the islanders through the eyes of a Franco-Reunionese islander who echoes what Edouard Glissant defended in The Everybody. From the history of its different islands (Île de France, Réunion Island, and the Red Island for Madagascar), she highlights, through everyday objects from Réunion Island – the gregue, the cooking pot, etc. – more or less forgotten aspects of French history. Subtly, she subjectively interprets a cultural reality and social values with the perspective of a woman of color. She hopes to encourage decolonized curiosity and perhaps raise questions about the evolution of society from yesterday to today: how can we be resilient after resistance?
