Nacima Kada Belghitri Gourbi

Nacima's artistic work explores the complex dynamics between sensuality, eroticism, and relationships. On the one hand, through sculpture and performance, she evokes intimate and personal narratives. She perceives and uses performance as a venue. This approach allows her to rewrite and replay her memories, reclaiming them by redistributing the power relations between the protagonists.
This is where her sculptures come to life, animated by relational gestures, imbued with tenderness or domination. By granting them progressive autonomy, the sculptures gradually become the sole protagonists and interact with each other, like personifications, while Nacima gradually fades away, giving way to the images they offer. On the other hand, her ceramic practice demonstrates an attentive and delicate approach, imbued with sensuality. Her gestures of polishing, buffing, and caressing create a shine and a satiny feel. The sculptures are then confined in ashes for three days during firing, thus preserving all the finesse of the process. She likes to think that this deliberate slowness, this attention to care, this affection, charges them. Thus preparing them to be born for their future performance. Her work suggests to the spectators an experience where sensuality and the tension of conflicting feelings mingle during a dance. His proposal thus reflects his desire to reveal collective stories and offer avenues for reflection as ways out of the complexity of human relationships.
