Oriane Caroff questions the old, the already existing, whether in materials, usage habits, or manufacturing processes. Depending on the projects, these questions are not found in the same place, but the context remains the same: Western urban and peri-urban housing, the one she encounters every day.
Her work is related to the notion of the power of modification. She defines it as the ability to voluntarily change certain traits or elements of something, without altering its nature or essence.
His projects are aimed more specifically at people who are tenants, because they do not have the same possibilities for transforming their living space as someone who has built their own home or who owns it.
Her diploma is composed of a landscape of objects and autonomous projects, which opens a new way of thinking about the question of energy, object memory, and which allows us to propose another way of creating comfort. She presents scenes in the form of a visit to an alternative house that fits into the problems of our current society, to offer a different model of life than the one that is the majority.
In his bedroom, there's a box bed. A reinterpretation of traditional Breton bedding, this type of bedding and its thermal qualities also allow for the introduction of the concept of slow heat: favoring heating small spaces, or individuals directly, rather than an entire house.
In her bathroom, she began research into making water consumption more visible. The shower prototypes are added to the existing drains.
