Reusing materials with the nettles recycling center

United by ecological ideas and a spirit of sharing, Nettles The Recycling Center offers a welcoming space where students can find and exchange reusable raw materials. It brings the community together around resource conservation. Constantly evolving, it provides a warm and inviting space where everyone is encouraged to collaborate.

The Recycling Library is a cooperative space dedicated to the exchange of reusable materials for our community of creators. This exchange system aims to promote a sustainable economic model based on solidarity and social connections.

Rethinking the lessons

Research and Creation Workshop – ARC Chromoculture

The School is progressively eliminating the most harmful products (including glazes, inks, etc.) and replacing them with natural alternatives. It has established a darkroom using natural and environmentally friendly printing and developing products. It no longer uses chemical dyes. In the coming years, some colorants will be made from minerals and plants grown in a 1,500 m² "laboratory garden" (300 trees and shrubs) established in 2021. This initiative is part of a research-creation project called "Chromoculture – Cultivating Color through Art and Design," which aims to promote and enhance sustainable color practices, particularly for textile, ceramic, and publishing workshops. It is also a way to rethink the relationship between art and nature within a regional context.

Research and Creation Workshop – ARC The River School

Learning from the river: stepping outside the river's center to learn directly from it through sensory, hands-on experiences. The river has things to teach us, and this must be done by spending time with it. Our sensory reconnection to the river's various environments is necessary to understand and perceive their constituent balances and the upheavals that threaten them.
These sensory experiences are also a means of building a de-anthropocentric approach necessary for the construction of new relationships with living things and to participate in the abolition of the Nature/Culture distinction, the constitution of new ontologies and the development of a new approach to the Commons.

This theme permeates many other teachings that concern all years of study.

The building

Numerous initiatives have been implemented: rainwater harvesting, roof renovation, a relamping campaign, installation of water-saving equipment, drafting of an employer mobility plan, obtaining the pro-cycling employer labelsorting and recycling, composting, secure bicycle area with lighting powered by a photovoltaic cell, …

In September 2025, the school completed its rainwater harvesting and storage system. This project aims to collect rainwater from the roof and store it in tanks buried in basins located along the east facade of the building, on the parking lot side. A storage capacity of 80 m³ is planned to supply all the school's restrooms, the watering point for the "Chomoculture" gardens, the rooftop tap for cleaning the roof, and a connection point in the center of the school to allow for the potential connection of the workshops.

The school is continuing its ecological transition program within the framework of the tertiary sector decree with a thermal renovation project for the entire building. This program includes the renovation of the heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) system, the domestic hot water (DHW) production system, the exterior insulation of the east wall, the installation of a self-consumption photovoltaic canopy, and the refurbishment of the parking lot.
