Research-creation doctorate
In spring 2026, Ensad Limoges will publish a new call for applications for a research-creation doctorate in partnership with the University of Limoges focusing on ceramics.
The research-creation doctorate recognizes the specific nature of research based on both:
- the creation of artwork or design work(s) and a creative process
- scientific research that nourishes creation: this can be a reflective or critical look back at creative work (mobilizing the sciences of art and design: history, philosophy, aesthetics…), but also a parallel investigation into related subjects, mobilizing one or more disciplines belonging to the sciences of matter or the humanities and which is formalized in the thesis dissertation.
The project must focus on a ceramics practice related to one of the research areas From the school: Images/Imaginary, Traditional Gesture/Innovative Gesture and Territories of the Living.
Candidates choose two people to direct their research prior to submitting the application: a teacher authorized to supervise research (HDR) attached to one of the laboratories of the University of Limoges and a teacher in art or design from Ensad Limoges.
